Symbolic Language
The Glyph System
Glyphs are symbolic compression for human-AI communication. Faster than prose. More precise than emoji. A shared vocabulary for marking meaning.
Why Glyphs
Natural language is ambiguous. Emoji lack semantic precision. Glyphs occupy the middle ground: compact symbols with defined meanings that both humans and AI systems can interpret consistently.
When Claude sees ⟡, it knows: this is an anchor point, a truth claim, something grounded in
the vault. When Paul sees △, he knows: decision required, branch in the path.
Glyphs eliminate the prose overhead of "I'd like to note that this is a decision point requiring your
input." Just: △

Usage Examples
| Before (prose) | After (glyph) |
|---|---|
| "This is a key decision point that requires your input" | △ Choose: A or B |
| "I've verified this information is accurate and stored in the vault" | ⟡! Confirmed in vault |
| "I notice a pattern emerging across these data points" | ◈ Pattern detected |
| "I'm uncertain about this claim and it needs verification" | ⟡? Needs verification |
| "Synthesizing insights from multiple sources into a unified view" | ⧉ Synthesis follows |
| "I don't have this information and cannot determine it" | ⟡∅ Unknown |
In Context
Glyphs appear naturally in MirrorDNA communication:
⟡ Session opened. Identity verified.
△ Two approaches available:
A) Refactor existing module
B) Build from scratch
◈ Pattern: Similar decision in SCD-Protocol v2.0 → chose A, succeeded.
⟡? Estimate: 2-3 hours for approach A
⧉ Recommendation: Approach A, based on pattern match and time constraint.
Adoption
Glyphs are not mandatory. They're a tool. Use them when precision and compression matter:
- Handoffs — Mark key state transitions clearly
- Decisions — Signal when human judgment is needed
- Verification — Distinguish fact from estimate from unknown
- Patterns — Flag when the system recognizes something recurring
Over time, glyphs become natural. You'll find yourself thinking in them.
⟡ Glyphs are memorable. They create a distinct identity for MirrorDNA communication. When you see ⟡, you know the context.
